Nestled in New York City’s SoHo district, a vibrant hub known for its artistic heritage, retail excitement, and cultural dynamism, Glamour Decorating’s project at 565 Broome Street showcases the pinnacle of luxurious living.
This three-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom apartment with custom drapery tracks combines historic charm with modernity and offers access to the Hudson riverfront and recreation thanks to the integrator and shades specialist Somfy, which played an important role in the project.
The project tackled the challenge of designing seamless solutions for the living room’s glass coverage. With 82 feet of glass and four intricate bends, ensuring the drapery stacked neatly behind columns at 565 Broome Street required meticulous planning.
Working in collaboration with the developer, architect, and Somfy, the Glamour Decorating team strategically recommended pinch pleats over ripple fold which ultimately added to the complexity of the installation process. The motorized system must be carefully calibrated to handle the specific weight and movement of the pinch pleats, ensuring smooth operation.
However, achieving the tighter stack-back more than made up for it by maximizing the panoramic views of the city and the Hudson River.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
The team at Glamour Decorating created detailed templates to guide Somfy in crafting bespoke drapery tracks for each room, perfectly fitting the space at 565 Broome Street and adding to the feeling of a retreat amidst SoHo’s energetic vibe.
“Strong relationships are the foundation of our industry. As a family-owned business, open lines of communication with each other and with our trade partners has been a critical aspect of our success,” says Jackie Hankard of Somfy.
“We had excellent relationships with all key stakeholders in this project. These strong partnerships ensured that we could collaborate effectively, address challenges promptly, and deliver high-quality results that meet the expectations of our clients.
