Set in the deep forests bordering Lake Norman in North Carolina, this charming retrofit headed by SoundVision, LLC., sees a state-of-the-art home theater ascend to become the crown jewel of the home. An array of advanced audio-visual components, meticulously designed lighting, and both indoor and outdoor entertainment solutions further complement home’s systems.
While the project was largely successful, however, it was not without its challenges, according to Michelle Ferlauto, Chief Operating Officer for SoundVision.
Primary issues arose from faulty switches and dimmers alongside other electrical issues. Additionally, there were several vendor-related product issues that needed to be dealt with to ensure minimal disruption to the project time. All the while the client was constantly refining their vision for the project, which necessitated several course corrections on the fly.
SoundVision also had to get clever when it came to storing all the equipment needed to run this impressive space. Organizing a complex equipment rack also presented a logistical challenge, but the team’s expertise ensured a neat and functional setup.
The media room retrofit stands out as the project’s highlight, blending a variety of technologies that all come together for an enhanced viewing experience. A JVC DLA-NZ8R projector and Dragonfly DF-SL-145-UAW screen serve as the main engines for visuals, while Paradigm in-wall speakers paired with a Dolby Digital Surround sound system and Sony STR receiver facilitate immersive audio throughout the space.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
Core the viewing experience, SoundVision also installed Salamander Motorized Theater Recliners and Artnovion Siena K 24 1.0 FR Acoustic Panels. A WattBox 250-Series Wi-Fi Surge Protector provides insurance uninterrupted streaming and remote system access, while a Control4 Halo Touch Remote provides seamless control of the entire system.
“Despite [the] hurdles, the project progressed smoothly, culminating in a final product that exceeded the clients’ expectations and delivered a world-class home theater experience,” noted Ferlauto.
