An Outdated Bathroom is Reborn as a High-Tech, Wetroom-Style Retreat

This full bathroom remodel by Gramophone transformed an outdated space into a sleek, wetroom-style retreat. Originally featuring an alcove tub, the bathroom was reimagined to include a separate stand-alone tub, providing a more spacious and luxurious feel. Designed with young male users in mind, the space needed a modern, masculine touch, achieved through a combination of bold materials and streamlined features.

Rough Concrete and Soft Lighting Provide Moody Contrast for Wetroom

To create this wetroom aesthetic, Gramophone introduced a concrete countertop, which brings a raw and robust element to the room. This was paired with black-finish faucets and accessories, adding to the contemporary vibe. Large-format tiles were used throughout the space, providing a seamless, clean look that enhances the room’s sleek design. These choices together create a balanced blend of ruggedness and modern sophistication.

Lighting was a crucial component of the redesign, especially since the room lacked natural light. To overcome this, Gramophone installed mud-in ceiling tape lighting, contributing to a minimalist, polished look. Under-cabinet lighting adds a softer glow, allowing the space to shift between different moods and purposes. With adjustable lighting scenes, the bathroom can transition from a bright, functional space to a relaxing, spa-like atmosphere.

One of the standout features of the bathroom remodel is the curbless shower and tub area, which not only enhances accessibility but also contributes to the bathroom’s streamlined, open wetroom aesthetic. This design element removes barriers, creating a cohesive and modern appearance that is both functional and visually appealing.

Affordable Alternatives Keep Budget Low and Aesthetics Intact

Budget constraints presented an initial challenge, as the client desired a high-end feel without the associated costs.

“Budget was the initial challenge in creating the look and feel the client was looking for,” says Leticia Blundi-Martin, Ecommerce Marketing Manager at Gramohpone. “We were able to create the same look using more budget-friendly materials.”

For example, the team opted for more affordable alternatives that closely matched the appearance of high-end materials without compromising quality or design.

This approach allowed for a high-impact transformation without exceeding financial limits, offering the client a sophisticated, updated space that meets both aesthetic and practical needs.

This wetroom-style bathroom remodel by Gramophone is a testament to balancing style with functionality. By combining contemporary materials, strategic lighting, and a thoughtful layout, the design team created a space that feels expansive and inviting. The result is a bathroom that is not only visually appealing but also versatile and tailored to the needs of its users, making it a standout feature of the home.
