This request for an immersive film experience in New Delhi, India led to unconventional home theater design choices by integrator MACBEE PVT. Unlike traditional setups where screens are typically placed on narrower walls, this 14.5-foot-wide screen was positioned on the wider wall. This resulted in limited seating space, accommodating 11 recliners: five in the front row and six elevated on a custom 1.6-foot plinth in the rear row.
“This project distinguishes itself by meticulously recreating the immersive ambiance of a movie theater within the comfort of a private residence,” says MACBEE’s Ankur Bhatt.
“Emphasizing the client’s preference for close proximity to the screen, the seating arrangement and floor-to-ceiling screen design immerse viewers in an unparalleled cinematic experience
The second-floor location posed challenges for housing the big Barco projector and equipment rack, as there was no adjacent room available. MACBEE engineered a specialized back panel with a custom projector mount to install the projector vertically. Ventilation was designed with accessible features for maintenance.
Audio setup required line-source speakers due to the proximity of viewers to both screen and speakers. Wisdom Audio line-source speakers were chosen to meet high performance standards effectively. The equipment rack and cables were housed in a separate server room to maintain a clean aesthetic and minimize noise.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
“Innovative VR technology played a pivotal role in conceptualizing and fine-tuning the layout, allowing for meticulous customization that met the client’s exacting standards,” reports Bhatt.
“The result is a home cinema that not only meets but exceeds traditional expectations, offering a personal yet cinematic atmosphere that combines comfort with cutting-edge audiovisual technology. By merging meticulous design with state-of-the-art components, this project transforms the client’s passion for movies into a tangible, unforgettable home entertainment experience.”
