Arlo Teams Up with SmartThings and RapidSOS on Smart Home Security

Smart home security brand Arlo has announced new partnerships with Samsung SmartThings and RapidSOS aimed at enhancing home security and emergency response. The expanded collaboration with Samsung’s smart home platform SmartThings will integrate Arlo’s AI-driven security feature into the SmartThings ecosystem, while a partnership with intelligent safety platform RapidSOS will introduce video verification capabilities to emergency responders to improve response times and reduce false alarms.

This follows a partnership announced earlier in January, in which Arlo garnered exclusive rights to market and sell Origin AI’s unique detection technology.

Arlo Brings AI-Enhanced Security to SmartThings

Arlo’s latest update for SmartThings will incorporate key features of Arlo Secure 5, the company’s suite of AI-enabled security features, with the update scheduled for release in the spring.

According to the companies, the integration will introduce two-way audio between SmartThings and Arlo cameras and doorbells, allowing communication through the platform. Event snapshots will provide users with additional visibility into security events, and AI-powered object detection will enable identification of people, vehicles, and packages. Users will have the ability to customize notifications and automations based on this information.

Arlo and RapidSOS Partner for AI-Powered Emergency Response

Meanwhile, Arlo’s new partnership with RapidSOS, an AI-driven safety platform used by over 21,000 emergency agencies, is designed to allow RapidSOS Safety Agents to access real-time video verification from Arlo cameras before escalating emergency calls to 911. The feature is designed to improve accuracy in emergency response and reduce false alarms, the companies say.

The integration will enable Arlo users to alert RapidSOS agents with a single action, who can then escalate verified incidents to 911 emergency responders. Video verification will allow agents to confirm security threats before dispatching assistance. Additional details, including pre-filled location profiles and gate codes, will also be transmitted to first responders, the companies say.

For users of the Arlo Home Security System, professional monitoring services will be available, verifying threats and dispatching assistance for incidents such as break-ins, water leaks, and medical emergencies.
