Camera Hub G5 Pro from Aqara Utilizes AI Technologies to Produce Clear Images

Aqara has announced the availability of its first surveillance camera designed for outdoor applications: The Camera Hub G5 Pro.

Core Features of the Camera Hub G5

According to the company, the Camera Hub G5 features a complementary industrial design that is available in a choice of two finishes. The outdoor camera delivers 2.6K Quad HD recording with Aqara‘s True Color Night Vision to help ensure clear images even in dark environments.

  • The G5 Pro also provides 4MP resolution (1520p) and a 133-degrees field-of-view to help the camera produce clear images in low-light conditions.
  • The camera’s f/1.0 aperture is said to capture up to four times more light than traditional f/2.0 lenses, while the graphene-cooled 1/1.8-inch sensor enhances low-lit performance.

In addition, the device is IP65-rated for weather resistance and can withstand extreme temperatures (from -30 degrees C/-22 degrees F to 50 degrees C/122 degrees F) as well as resist moisture and dust. The G5 Pro offers flexible connectivity options for various environments as well. The PoE version features an uninterrupted Ethernet connection with Power-over-Ethernet support, while the Wi-Fi version supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz/5GHz) with WPA3 security.

Onboard AI Adds to Security Features

The camera comes equipped with an on-device AI that Aqara says the camera captures critical events around the home and alerts homeowners of potential threats, such as lingering individuals or package theft, even during internet outages. Integrators can also setup the Camera Hub G5 Hub to trigger automation to deter intruders.

  • A dimmable spotlight and a 100 dB speaker add extra security by acting as an intruder deterrent and enabling two-way audio communication.
  • The Camera Hub G5 Pro also supports end-to-end encryption for live and recorded video, ensuring that only homeowners and their family can access the footage. The camera’s eMMC storage can sync to cloud storage services provided by Aqara and iCloud, and also supports local NAS system backups for added security.

The Camera is Also Compatible with Thread, Matter, Zigbee and Other Smart Home Protocols

More than just a security camera the company boasts, the G5 Pro serves as a multi-protocol hub for outdoor space, expanding the reach and reliability of a smart home network. As a Matter Controller, Thread Border Router and Aqara Matter bridge/ZigBee hub, it can connect and manage not only Aqara accessories but also third-party Matter devices, making it a possible foundation for integrators looking to create versatile smart home systems that include home security.

  • According to Aqara, the G5 Pro also integrates with Apple Home, and is among the few HomeKit Secure Video cameras to support PoE and True Color Night Vision. It also streams to smart displays that are compatible with Alexa, Google Home or SmartThings.

Additionally, the G5 Pro works with popular smart home platforms and supports the RTSP protocol, making it easy to integrate into users’ existing smart security systems.
