Set in downtown Minneapolis, the Stone Arch Remodel stands out for its seamless integration of advanced AV technology within the constraints of a high-end condo.
Concrete floors and ceilings posed significant challenges towards wiring for the space’s AV and control systems. The tightness of the condo’s architecture further complicated device placement. There was also limited room space when it came to housing the AV racks for the condo.
On top of all the issues, there were no adjustments that could be made to the condo’s structure that would make them more accommodating. Any alterations could compromise the building’s integrity, meaning changes needed to be made at the device and wiring level.
Despite the challenges of limited space and the concrete structure, however, the remodel achieved flawless integration, comments Admit One Home Systems’ Kristin Reinitz.
To help deliver on the homeowner’s wishes, Admit One Home Systems teamed up with Milton House Design Collective and Kenzo Construction during the project.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
“We collaborated closely with the builder and designer to create custom solutions,” Reinitz notes.
“Creative wiring strategies and the use of smaller footprint speakers ensured that the high-quality sound system fit within the architectural constraints. The limitations of concrete ceilings necessitated creative solutions for speaker placement.”
The team also opted to use smaller footprint speakers—the likes of 4-inch models—strategically placed in wall to cover the audio requirements for the condo. Admit One also leveraged passive sound bars to maintain high-quality sound while preserving the architectural design.
This project also features a full lighting design using DMF fixtures, controlled by a Lutron HomeWorks system, which maximizes wall space through keypad control and panelized lighting. The Nice control system delivers effortless audio and IP video distribution, ensuring high-quality entertainment with a simple interface, she says.
A key feature is the advanced network solution by Araknis and Access Networks, which provides complete Wi-Fi and hardwired coverage while mitigating interference from neighboring condos. This system prioritizes hardwired connections, using wireless only when necessary to optimize performance.
