Welcome to Oceanside Boulevard. Shacked up in the beautiful Newport Beach area of La Jolla, California, this property sports beautiful ocean views, a striking infinity edge pool, custom chandeliers, and an array of custom circadian lighting and control systems meant to help align the homeowner with the rhythm of the sun.
This not only required extensive programming to ensure all fixtures would work on the Crestron system they were employing, but also coordination with all the different subcontractors present on the project.
“The ocean view property in Newport Beach has remarkable views of the ocean from an infinity edge pool, with the automation utilizing one custom made app to control just about everything,” notes Kyra Mitchell of Audio Impact, Inc. “What really separates this home though is the custom programmed lighting.”
Every single light in the home, including all the shelf lighting, downlights, custom chandeliers, tape lighting, cove lighting, exterior lighting, and even the pool lighting, were made to be color-changeable and programmable on the same system.
During the project, the team worked with several different lighting manufacturers specifically for the custom chandeliers and fixtures to ensure they would still be compatible with the Lutron system and modular dimmers they were using to run the lights.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
Light sensors installed throughout Oceanside Boulevard help track the current state of the sun and make it so the homeowner can snap all lighting to attention at the press of a button. In the morning, the house floods with a bright, energizing yellow and gradually shifts to a deep, calming red in the evening.
While a beautiful display of color that lends itself to more natural-feeling environments thanks to superior color rendering, the lights also hold a health component for the homeowner, helping to manage stress levels and reducing anxiety, while also allowing them to wake up or fall asleep more consistently and quickly.
