Goldring, a global analog audio known for its phono cartridges, has announced the GR3 turntable, its first turntable in more than 20 years.
This new turntable, according to the company, marks a significant return for Goldring, bringing together its century-old legacy with modern-day convenience.
Developed in collaboration with a popular British Hi-Fi manufacturer, the GR3 turntable is equipped with a Goldring E3 moving magnet (MM) phono cartridge to offer plug-and-play functionality. The company points out the new turntable incorporates a built-in phono preamplifier that enables seamless compatibility with any amplifier, receiver or powered speaker, making it a companion for products from sister company, Q Acoustics, including the brand’s M20 and M40 powered stereo speakers.
Additionally, the GR3 turntable comes with a choice of interconnects from Goldring’s other sister brand QED to provide users with quality connectivity and sound quality.
The company emphasizes to help dealers integrate the turntable into smart home environments, the turntable features Goldring’s E3 MM cartridge pre-fitted and pre-adjusted to the GR3 tonearm.
As a custom integrator, lighting is in demand. Effective communication, education and showcasing the value proposition of LED light fixtures in conjunction with integrative control systems are the keys to overcoming challenges and closing sales in this specialized market.

Goldring explains this phono cartridge features a stiff and lightweight aluminum cantilever the company says delivers accurate tracking, more detail and reduced distortion, while a “dual-magnet” generator ensures authentic reproduction, better channel separation and a more musical soundstage. Designed and engineered in the U.K., Goldring asserts the cartridge’s micro-adjustments during production ensures a consistent and reassuring performance for the life of the product.
The company notes that not every amplifier or powered speaker has the necessary gain and EQ (equalization) to deal with the signal from a turntable. So, to make life easier the GR3 turntable employs an integrated phono preamplifier. Through the inclusion of the built-in phono preamplifier, integrators can can connect to any amplifier or powered speaker without the need for extra phono amplification or boxes.
The analog audio company also points out the speed stability of the GR3 turntable is maintained by employing a phenolic resin platter that is enhanced by a fly-wheel design effect. By distributing the majority of its considerable mass at the outside of rotation, inertia is increased and therefore speed variations are suppressed Goldring explains. Goldring suggests this design gives the GR3 turntable good wow and flutter performance which in turn ensures that the fidelity of its musical reproduction remains high.
Goldring adds to complement the GR3 turntable’s performance, a combination of a stylish high-gloss black plinth, covered by a perspex dust cover provides homeowners with a modern design that can match any system while seamlessly integrating into any interior design space.
MSRP for the GR3 turntable is $999.
