The world of smart shades just got a little bit bigger with a news coming from Bond. In a partnership with designer shade brand Hunter Douglas, Bond has announced a new integration between the Bond Bridge Pro and Hunter Douglas PowerView Gen 3 automated window shades.
Being an incredibly popular brand for shading installs in the custom integration space, the new integration makes it so that the Bond Bridge Platform can control up to 50 Hunter Douglas motorized shades (as well as other third-party awnings, pergola louvers, ceiling fans, and even gas fireplaces) at once.
According to Bond, the new compatibility is made possible through IP-to-IP integration between the Bond Bridge Pro (model # BD-1750) and the PowerView Gen 3 Gateway. The integration is available on both the Bond Bridge Pro BD-1750 or Progressive Screens MagnaTrack series of bridges.
Through this integration, users can manage their PowerView Gen3 shades alongside other connected devices via the Bond Home App (iOS, Android) or home automation system.
The App enables scheduling, scene-setting, and integrates with virtual assistance applications like Amazon, Google and more.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
To enable PowerView control by Bond, the company notes that installers need only set-up the PowerView Gen 3 Shades and Gateway, followed by the Bond Bridge Pro. The Bond Home App then “pulls-in” the PowerView shades.
Installers can also leverage Bond’s Sidekick for Shades (Gen2) flush-mount keypad to control the PowerView shades.
Lastly, Bond notes this integration opens more installations to Bond’s service offerings, with 24/7 access being made available through the Bond App directly.
The Bond solutions are all available for sale at www.bondhome.io, while all of Hunter Douglas Gen3 Powerview shading products will be available on its own site.
Both Bond and Hunter Douglas will also be showcasing their solutions (as well as the new integration) at booths #4109 and #3543, respectively, during CEDIA Expo 2024.
The partnership with Hunter Douglas comes following a year of expansion for the Bond platform, having announced a new integration with Draper at Home at the tail end of 2023. The company has also been pushing into outdoor spaces with its tech, growing to encompass a variety of outdoor motorization and even announcing an ultrasonic weather sensor that it will be displaying while at this year’s CEDIA Expo as well.
