McIntosh has announced the arrival of a new segment-exclusive audio system—the MX1200 Entertainment System, which will be available in the Jeep brand’s first global battery-electric vehicle (BEV)—the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition.
The popular luxury audio company states the new automotive entertainment system has been specifically engineered and tuned for the Jeep Wagoneer S, and it represents the first McIntosh-grade system for an electric vehicle (EV).
“Our partnership with the Jeep brand continues to be a great success,” says Charlie Randall, president of McIntosh Laboratory, Inc. “It’s exciting to see McIntosh audio systems on the road again and to share our brand and listening experience with a whole new group of customers.”
McIntosh boasts the introduction of the MX1200 in the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition blends the two iconic American brands once again. McIntosh and the Jeep brand highlighted their new partnership with the launch of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Since then, McIntosh points out, it has expanded the availability of its entertainment systems into Wagoneer, Wagoneer L, Grand Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer L, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee 4xe models from Jeep.
According to McIntosh, the entertainment system brings the McIntosh home audio experience to life in the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S interior through state-of-the-art sound and thoughtful design. Featuring McIntosh patented technologies, such as Power Guard to eliminate harmful “clipping,” and LD/HP (Low Distortion/High Performance), McIntosh claims the MX1200 Entertainment System is capable of producing pristine sound at any volume, and aesthetically, the system features McIntosh-inspired industrial designs. Some of the MX1200’s visual elements include illuminated logos on the door’s speaker grille, aluminum framing, industrial ridged control knobs and the “McIntosh Blue” decibel meters on the Uconnect 5 display screen, mimicking the analog version of a McIntosh amplifier.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
“This groundbreaking, fully electric Jeep Wagoneer S will offer the amazing and unparalleled McIntosh listening experience that Wagoneer customers have now come to expect. We have incorporated high-performance McIntosh grade hardware and very dedicated tuning, which encompasses the sound characteristics of our brand,” comments Fiore Cappelletto vice president and general manager–McIntosh Group Automotive. “McIntosh and the Jeep brand have been a perfect match and, in fact, has helped elevating both brands in a joyful and successful journey as we delve deeper into the luxury SUV segment.”
Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition MX1200 Entertainment System features include:
A 24-channel premium amplifier that sends up to 1,200 watts to 19 optimally placed speakers, based on the speakers’ individual needs.
Four powerful 6-inch x 9-inch door speakers.
Active coaxial speakers featuring lighter, stronger materials that reduce THD (Total Harmonic Distortion), improve performance and create a more anchored, responsive sound stage.
Each coaxial speaker has a 3.5-inch midrange and a 1-inch tweeter with a dedicated amp channel.
12-inch dual-voice coil subwoofer.
Rear speakers mounted in the liftgate that play low enough to blend with the subwoofer.
The MX1200 Entertainment System is standard on the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition. The all-new, all-electric vehicle will launch first in the U.S. and Canada in the fall of 2024 and later be available in markets around the world.
