L-Acoustics: Responding to the Latest Trends in Home Theater Audio

According to CE Pro’s Home Entertainment Deep Dive, the home theater market is rebounding with a 43% spike in dedicated home theater room projects, as well as a projected 3.5% increase in overall category for 2024.

What was once considered a legacy application of home technology has made a comeback, with high-end display and audiophile-grade technologies becoming more in demand among projects for high-net worth individuals.

According to Kevin Learmann, Sales Manager of Home and Yacht, Americas at renowned audio manufacturer L-Acoustics, this has been the case for several years.

“I think that’s something that really came to the forefront during covid, as people began spending more time at home, maybe more time than they wanted, and wanted to upgrade their entertainment options and their entertainment experiences.”

That renewed interest in high-end entertainment experiences is now manifesting itself, with a projected 16% growth in the home theater market, says Learmann, citing market research firm Business Research Insights.

L-Acoustics is “Perfectly Positioned” in the Home Theater Market

L-Acoustics, a recognized provider of exceptional audio products for the professional audio market, is “perfectly positioned to assist integrators” in home theater projects, Learmanns says. The company’s products can be found in countless concert halls and festivals around the world, including Coachella, Tomorrowland, and more.

Making premium loudspeakers and subwoofers is one thing, but it’s the software that fine tunes the audio system for the space that Learmann says is the company’s secret weapon.

“So the same software that we use to figure out how audio is going to sound in Radio City Music Hall or the Royal Albert Hall in London or the Hollywood Bowl in California, is the same software that we use to predict how accurately predict how sound will occur in your home theater or in your backyard,” Learmann says.

In line with CEDIA’s push for the RP22 immersive audio standard, L-Acoustics’ provides a heat map that can show a customer how the audio will perform before anything is even installed.

L-Acoustics has also recently launched new speakers in its X Series lineup of short-throw speakers designed to “play louder and kick harder” than virtually any other bookshelf-size speaker.

The company at CEDIA Expo 2024 will also be showing off a full Dolby Atmos system, partnering with other big industry names such as Barco, madVR and Storm Audio.
