Lelch, Charles Stinson Collab Creates Beautiful Beach Home on Lake Minnetonka

With systems design by Lelch, the Lafayette Bay project stands as a harmonious union between architectural brilliance and technological sophistication. The entire residence is a collaboration between Lelch and the architect/design firm Charles R. Stinson Architecture + Design.

Given the extensive glasswork and rich natural environment surrounding the Lafayette Bay residence, an advanced lighting and shading system was seen as being key to perfecting the look and feel of the interior environment.

“The primary goal was to enhance the architectural beauty of the residence while providing seamless control and automation to the homeowners,” said Rhi Roehl, Marketing Manager at Lelch.

“This collaboration resulted in a home that offers unparalleled comfort, efficiency, and aesthetic appeal, with every element meticulously planned and executed.”

Smart Shading Helps Perfect a One-of-a-Kind View in Lafayette Bay

The Lafeyette Bay residence features a one-of-a-kind view of Lake Minnetonka that the entire home’s architecture centers around. While being comprised of a mainly glass façade, the challenge quickly became finding a way to covertly hide the shading solutions to ensure breathtaking views from every room while being able to mitigate light and heat gain during the day.

Lelch ultimately settled on Lutron automated shades to meet the task.

“Working closely with the builder, we created a solution that allowed the shades to be virtually invisible when fully opened but provide the perfect barrier from the elements when needed,” stated Roehl.

Lutron was also subsequently tapped to provide control over both the lighting and shading throughout the home. The use of Lutron systems were leveraged to not only enhance functionality and efficiency of the home through advanced lighting control and automated shading, but also to elevate many of the integrated AV solutions.

“This project exemplified collaboration between Lelch and Charles R. Stinson Architecture + Design,” Roehl continued.

“The Lafayette Bay project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation, showcasing how technology can be beautifully integrated into architectural design creating a home that is both stunning and highly functional.”
