After revealing its latest OLED models during CES 2025, LG is officially rolling out the evo G5 and C5 series, essentially doubling down on the growing OLED category that is helping to propel the premium TV market. According to the South Korean manufacturer, the company’s U.S. rollout of the TVs is beginning now, with both models available for pre-order on the company’s website. Other OLED models will be announced “at a later date,” the company says.
Pre-ordering now will save customers on wall-mounted or stand setup, as well as up to $200 in savings on select LG soundbars, according to the company’s announcement. These new OLED models range in size from 42 inches to a massive 97 inches, double-dipping into both the growing OLED and large-screen TV categories that many analysts say is helping to keep the TV market healthy.
The LG OLED evo G5 TV starts at $2,499 for the 55-inch model, but that price balloons to $24,999 for the largest version available at 97 inches. The TV also comes in sizes of 65, 77, and 83 inches.
The company says the evo G5 lineup is powered by the company’s Alpa 11 AI Processor Gen2, which brings with it Brightness Booster Ultimate technology and AI-driven image enhancements.
LG says the OLED TV also features Perfect Black and Perfect Color certifications, which are said to ensure deeper blacks and vibrant colors, which are of course hallmarks of a premium OLED TV.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
The TV also features Filmmaker Mode with Ambient Light Compensation, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, AI Sound Pro for immersive audio, as well as gaming features including 4K 165Hz VRR, NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium.
The LG OLED evo C5, meanwhile, is slightly less advanced and expensive than its G5 counterpart, starting at $1,399 for the 42-inch model and up to $5,399 for the largest available at 83 inches (the 83-inch G5 model is $6,499), with four other models between those two extremes.
Like the G5 series, the C54 also features Perfect Black and Perfect Color certifications, and Brightness Booster technology, but with the Alpa 9 AI Processor Gen 8.
This series also supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, utilizing AI Picture Pro and AI Sound Pro to refine visuals and create virtual 11.1.2 channel audio, while the AI Picture/Sound Wizard customizes settings based on individual preferences, the company says.
The 4K OLED TV’s refresh rate is slightly lower than the G5’s at 144Hz, but it includes VRR and VESA’s ClearMR 9000 certification and an ultra-slim design.
According to market research firm Omdia, OLED TV shipments outpaced the rest of the market for the first time in 2024, capturing 51% of the market.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, OLED TV shipments in the quarter reached 2 million units, marking the highest quarterly sales since the same quarter in 2022. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, OLEDS TVs saw a 12.6% growth.
North America, the largest market for OLED TVs, saw 19% growth, illustrating that the OLED TV market is much more mature in the U.S. and Canada and suggesting that integrators should continue to market and sell OLED TVs in their projects. Western Europe was second in OLED TV growth a 18.4%.
