LG is revamping its QNED evo lineup of high-end smart TVs in 2025, releasing new models featuring new wide color gamut technology, a wireless 4K, 144Hz viewing experience, AI-enhanced picture and sound processing and other intelligent features.
According to LG, its QNEDS evo series is a premium lineup of LCD TVs that include key OLED innovations, such as AI capabilities and wireless connectivity. The company calls this a dual-track strategy that also includes emphasizing the its self-emissive OLED lineup.
The TVs now range in size from 40 inches to 100 inches, with the 100-inch option being new to the lineup due to customer demand for ultra-large TVs.
According to LG, the 2025 QNED evo lineup features an improved color gamut thanks to the company’s new proprietary wide color gamut technology, Dynamic QNED Color Solution, which replaces quantum dots. This enables light from the backlight to be expressed in pure colors.
With that new technology, LG claims the entire 2025 QNED evo lineup is 100 percent certified by global testing and certification organization Intertek for Color Volume, measuring a screen’s ability to display the colors of original images without distortion.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
The 2025 QNED evo TVs also feature new proprietary AI processors that offer close to 70% improvement in AI performance compared to 2024. These AI capabilities include more advanced upscaling, analyzing the filmmaker’s intent to adjust picture noise and presenting faces, objects, text and backgrounds more naturally.
The AI also introduces a feature called Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro that breaks down each scene to fine-tune HDR effects and brightness for each zone, with AI converting 2-channel sound sources to virtual 9.1.2 channel sound for a richer audio experience. The AI also distinguishes voices from background sounds and makes them clearer, while audio sounds natural as if it were coming from the center of the TV screen, the company says.
The new QNED evo TVs also feature LG’s new AI Magic Remote with a new AI button for easy analysis for viewing preferences and content recommendations. Other personalization features include Voice ID, Generative AI Gallery and customized TV picture and sound quality modes. A short press on the AI button guides users to relevant keywords and TV features, while a long press enables personalized searches based on a large language model, the company says.
LG smart TV platform webOS25 is embedded in the TVs, offering personalized services and other AI features.
In addition to this announcement, LG recently released a 77-inch OLED TV that can turn completely transparent on command. Originally announced during CES 2024, the new SIGNATURE T won CES’s Best of Innovation Award upon its debut and also features the company’s True Wireless TV technology.
LG plans in 2025 to also launch QNED evo 9M model featuring its True Wireless 4K technology, which was previously exclusive to high-end OLED evo M Series models from 2024. The company says this allows viewers to enjoy high-definition 4K content wirelessly without compromising on picture quality or experiencing delays, thanks to the Zero Connect Box that transmits video up to 4K and a refresh rate of 144Hz.
The TV itself requires only a power cord, allowing for more convenient storage of gaming consoles and set-top boxes.
