Lyngdorf Audio, a Danish luxury manufacturer has just launched its new D-60 C high-performance in-wall speaker to complement the D-60 introduced the prior year. The company states that its latest architectural speaker can be used as a center channel or as a high-performance solution for all front channels.
The Lyngdorf Audio D-60 C extends the company’s Discreet series, which are designed for custom installations in home cinemas, media rooms, and living rooms and is the seventh product in the lineup. The D-60 C has the Discreet series’ highest power handling, a high sensitivity and very high achievable sound pressure level.
The Discreet series now consists of the D-500, D-500 Center, D-5, D-5 IC, D-60, D-60 C, and the recently added shallow in-wall woofer DW-1.
According to the company, the D-60 C provides the highest performance of the Discreet series. The new in-wall speaker has the midrange driver closely below the tweeter, as well as a powerful midrange driver and two woofers. The tweeter/midrange part and the woofer part will be driven by their own amplifier channel using an active digital crossover in the AV processor, for example using the speaker presets in a Lyngdorf MP-40 2.1 and MP-60 2.1.
This type of configuration Lyngdorf Audio asserts, ensures that the frequency split and the phase relationship between midrange and bass is done in the best way, avoiding the typical issues in phase, sound dispersion, and frequency response that can be found in many conventional center speakers.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
Lyngdorf Audio boasts the D-60 C is equipped with a powerful soft dome tweeter and a midrange driver with a strong neodymium magnet. The two woofers are equipped with vented magnets and vented die-cast baskets, while the inverted surround allows a flat speaker front and space-saving mounting depth.
The tweeter/midrange unit and the woofers are driven by an active bi-amping crossover design to achieve the best sound performance, frequency balance, and sound dispersion the company emphasizes. The D-60 C covers frequencies from 22 kHz down to 80 Hz (-3dB) and is intended to be used with additional woofers for the LFE and bass, for example the Lyngdorf BW-20 or the new DW-1.
The company adds that all of the speakers from the Lyngdorf Discreet series come with their own pre-mounted loudspeaker enclosure, so that no after-market backbox or closed wall cavity is required, and a defined and consistent sound performance can be ensured in different rooms and wall constructions.
Moreover, the D-60 C incorporates a low-resonance MDF enclosure that is finished in matte black and covered with a white, paintable, and magnetic front grill.
The DW-1 production will start in October 2024 at Lyngdorf Audio, Denmark.
