PowerShades Smart Lighting Expands Solutions Portfolio

CEDIA Expo 2024 was quite the showcase for innovation in lighting and motorized shades controls. PowerShades took the opportunity to expand its smart-home ecosystem with the introduction of PowerShades Smart Lighting.

Various market applications stand to benefit from the latest PowerShades product introduction, since the company produces manual and automated window shades for residential, commercial, and hospitality applications.

Introduced at CEDIA 2024 in Denver, PowerShades Smart Lighting is available in both Down Lighting and Flex RGBW Strip Lighting, plus assorted sizes, styles, colors, and beam angles.

The company notes that its Down Lighting has been designed to be completely agnostic of the control system, making it extremely versatile.

The Down Lighting and Flex RGBW Strip Lighting have a very smooth dimming response and are dimmable down to 1%, according to PowerShades

“We’ve been a fixture in the motorized shade market for years,” says PowerShades CEO Ryan Chacon.

“Yet while we have enjoyed significant success with those products, we believe that diversification is the key to long-term success. The addition of smart lighting is a perfect gateway into the broader smart-home ecosystem, given the growing demand from consumers, as well as the ongoing requests from our dealers and distributors.”

PowerShades notes that the global smart lighting market is expected to experience a compound annual growth rate of 22.1% from 2023 to 2030 to balloon to $72.35 billion by 2030.

Smart Flex RGBW Strip Lighting Offers Dealers Design Flexibility

The Smart Flex RGBW Strip Lighting can be programmed to coordinate with the user’s automated shades according to the sun position at the geographic location of the install, the company explains.

For example, integrators can program and design lighting controls and fixtures systems to enable brightness and color temperature to adjust to compensate for sun color and brightness throughout the day and season.

The company is partnering with Converging Systems for control of the Flex RGBW Strip Lighting, as their eNode controllers have drivers for all the major control systems. Both products will be available exclusively through the Powerhouse Alliance, PowerShades’ distribution partner.

“Visitors to our CEDIA [Expo 2024] booth expressed excitement about our entry into the smart lighting arena and the ways our lighting and automated shades can interact,” Chacon adds.
