The client of this award-winning Ft. Lauderdale luxury home reached out to Premium Digital Control & Automation with the goal of merging their indoor-outdoor lifestyle with smart home technology. This meant integrating audio, video, lighting, shades, surveillance, video doorbells, pool infrastructure, fireplace, and HVAC all into a comprehensive control system that would grant the owner complete control over everything throughout the property.
The issue with that lay in the property’s limited infrastructure, which required running new cables from the second floor to the first floor of the home, and then to an outdoor area where the owner’s yacht was docked.

“This meant we had to be creative based on how we were going to integrate shades and control them seamlessly with the main control system,” says Randy Toth, president of Premium Digital Control & Automation.
“We were able to wire the shades on the second floor and master suite but had to use a wireless solution on the first floor due to the limited infrastructure.”
The company worked with Lutron Sivoia QS Triathlon Roller Shades, the QS Wireless Roller Shades and QS Wireless Drapery Tracks to work with the WAC Lighting smart lighting system throughout the house to provide an automated lighting and shading system.
As a custom integrator, lighting is in demand. Effective communication, education and showcasing the value proposition of LED light fixtures in conjunction with integrative control systems are the keys to overcoming challenges and closing sales in this specialized market.

These integrations also allowed the master suite to be designed as a full theater room, while keeping the cozy feel of a bedroom when not in use.
Within the Control4 automation system, multiroom audio delivers music throughout the house, with 12 audio zones plus seven video zones.
For security, the integrator installed a Control4 video doorbell and a DoorBird access control system to work with a new automated car gate to receive push notifications. This system sends notifications to the user’s phone when the door station’s motion sensor is triggered.

The owner also provided a laundry list of custom scenes for the home that Premium Digital Control & Automation were able to deliver on, allowing the home automation systems to flow with him as he moved between indoor and outdoor spaces.
