Roku is launching an update to its Roku Smart Home integration features, introducing new tools designed to enhance control and connectivity through TVs, smartphones, and computers. This update is designed to bring greater convenience to users with expanded functionality across multiple devices.
One of the key features is the Camera Carousel, which automatically cycles through live feeds from Roku Smart Home cameras on the TV. Using motion detection, the system highlights the camera feed where activity is occurring.
Roku says it is also expanding its TV notification capabilities. In addition to the existing doorbell alerts, users will be able to receive real-time notifications on their Roku TV for a range of events detected by other Smart Home cameras, such as pets moving around or motion in certain areas of the home.
These alerts, which were previously available on phones, are now being extended to the TV.
Another new feature is the Smart Home Web View, set to roll out in Winter 2024. This will allow users to monitor all camera feeds from one centralized dashboard on their laptops or desktop computers, making it easier to check in on their home from any web-enabled device, the company says.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
Aside from Smart Home Web View, all of these features are part of a free software update rolling out this week for all Roku Smart Home cameras and doorbells.
The update also ensures that Roku Smart Home devices remain equipped with the latest functionality and security improvements.
This update applies to all Roku Smart Home products, including the Floodlight Camera, Video Doorbell, Wire-free Video Doorbell and Chime, Indoor 360 Camera, Outdoor Wire-free Camera, and Indoor and Outdoor Wired Camera SE.
The company says its Smart Home products are certified by the ioXt Alliance, which sets global security standards for connected devices.
These products are equipped with advanced security features such as two-factor authentication, user data encryption, and secure boot technology, Roku adds.
