RTI Begins Shipping New Intelligent Surfaces Panels for Home Control

Control and automation manufacturer RTI is now shipping its new Intelligent Surfaces touchpanels, which will also be on display at CEDIA Expo and Commercial Integrator Expo next week in Denver.

The two touchpanels are designed for both residential and commercial projects and come in 10-inch and 5-inch sizes and include features designed to enable integrators to create more intelligent and integrated solutions, the company says.

The Intelligent Surfaces panels feature what the company calls the “narrowest” bezels on the market and a low profile to the wall with a fully customizable capacitive-touch screen with either 1920×120 resolution for the IST-10 or 854×480 for the IST-5. They also feature a true-back display filter for clarity.

According to RTI, both the IST-10 and IST-5 feature dual speakers and a far-field microphone array and enable full duplex intercom and exceptional video streaming in h.264 or h.265 format. For privacy, each includes a mute button for the microphone, while the hi-res camera on the IST-10 ensures privacy with a physical shutter that can quickly cover the camera lens. With proximity and ambient light sensors, the touchpanels quickly wake upon approach and adjust to the room lighting for easy viewing. Both models can mount portrait or landscape in a U.S. single gang box.

“These new touchpanels deliver best-in-class and first-in-class features that will enable integrators to do more intelligent, integrated, and inspired solutions,” says RTI Chief Product Officer Mike Jordan, in a statement. “We are the new RTI, and these new solutions highlight the incredible opportunities we’re creating for dealers.”

According to Jordan, response to the new touchpanels has been positive. The products were launched with a substantial update to the backgrounds and icons in the Coral template, he adds.

“Integrators can get beautiful results right ‘out of the box’ and, of course, can customize the interface 100% for a full bespoke solution,” Jordan says.
