Savant Grows its Footprint in Solar with Sunder Energy Partnership

Savant has announced a new partnership with Sunder Energy, one of the largest solar energy sales and installation networks in the U.S. Under the partnership, Sunder Energy will offer Savant’s Smart Electrical Panel technology to its national customer base.

Sunder will also begin offering Savant’s scalable energy storage solutions as part of a comprehensive intelligent power management system. Lastly, Sunder will begin leveraging Savant’s advanced cloud-based Central Management tool to help oversee its customer systems in the field and provide energy management concierge services.

Savants History in the Energy Management Business

Since buying out Racepoint Energy in 2021 and renaming it Savant Power, Savant has been heavily investing in its energy business, especially now as rising electricity prices and grid instability has spiked interest in the category among both smart home professionals and their clients.

Within the industry, Savant adopts a cutting-edge approach to making power smart, providing flexible load management systems that are able to intelligently interact with generation and storage systems through individual modules installed on the breaker panel of a home. They also provide greater insight to the homeowner through monitoring interfaces on the modules themselves, as well as the Savant App.

This ability to integrate and interact with breaker panels both old and new has made the system easily scalable and adept at handling both new build and retrofit applications.

Savant also says that the system helps lower installation costs for homeowners by “simplifying integration for solar energy installers by intelligently managing more circuits with the same amount of available electricity. This breakthrough will reduce the number of service upgrades and shorten installation timelines by eliminating the need for a larger utility feed.”

Smart Homes, Utilities, Solar and Their Interwoven Relationships

Expressing their vision of the future Yan Purba, Chief Experience Officer at Sunder Energy, stated, “Home energy automation is revolutionizing the homeowner experience by seamlessly integrating AI-driven energy management systems with advanced connectivity and smart devices from category leaders like Savant.

“By combining sustainability, technology advancements, and convenience, these innovations empower individuals to reduce energy usage, enhance automations, and create personalized living experiences. The future of home automation lies in its ability to transform houses into intelligent, eco-friendly ecosystems that adapt to every homeowner’s unique lifestyle.”

While Savant is one of the more active players in the field of energy management currently—alongside the likes of RoseWater Energy—this interplay between solar and utility companies has long existed within the smart home industry. Savant themselves, partnered with solar battery manufacturer Sonnen back in 2019, back when Savant Power was still named Racepoint.

Smart home company Vivint had also partnered with multiple solar system providers such as Freedom Forever to help distribute its own energy management systems before Vivint was ultimately bought out by the utility company NRG.

Prior to the acquisition, however, Vivint had been touting the strength of its solar segment, pointing to the combined value of solar mixing with smart systems in a home.
