Schlage Sense Pro Next Lock in Line to Feature UWB Technology

Schlage, a developer of home security and access solutions for over a century, has announced its latest smart lock products at the CES 2025: The Schlage Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt and the Schlage Arrive Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt.

Schlage points out the Smart Deadbolt and Schlage Arrive Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt, as well as the Schlage Encode smart lock family work with the updated Schlage Home app to bring peace-of-mind for the whole home.

New features include an at-a-glance home view, single-button home locking/unlocking and the ability to manage multiple properties from a single screen, providing user convenience and enhanced security.

“With the coming launches of the Schlage Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt and Schlage Arrive Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt, we are excited to continue our legacy of commitment to innovation in home security,” says David Perozzi, general manager, Allegion Home.

“As our first smart lock that will be Matter-over-Thread compatible, Schlage Sense Pro redefines home access, offering an intuitive hands-free unlocking experience and seamless smart home integration. Schlage Arrive provides a simple and secure WiFi solution that is an easy upgrade for first-time smart lock users and those looking to add smart security to more doors throughout their home.”

Sense Pro Second Smart Lock So Far to Feature UWB Technology

The Schlage Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt will feature Matter-over-Thread–making it the first Schlage lock to use the technology– and will deliver a hands-free unlocking experience through the use of Ultra Wideband technology–another first. Schlage notes the Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt introduces the brand’s latest development of Schlage Converge technology.

The company explains that once paired to homeowners’ authorized personal devices, the technology intelligently calculates speed, trajectory and motion to help ensure seamless, intuitive entry that understands intent to enter and unlocks as the user reaches their door.

While hands-free unlocking is nothing new in the realm of smart locks, the use of UWB as the facilitator is, with the technology largely being used in digital keys for cars and other non-security-related applications. Other lock manufacturers have begun to use technology more broadly, however, with Apple announcing at last year’s developer’s conference how it plans to leverage UWB for hands-free unlocking for its Home Key Smart locks.

Still, the technology is still in its early stages of introduction into the broader smart home market. In addition to offering hands-free unlocking, the Sense Pro will also provide keypad access code entry and tap-to-unlock as well as lock with NFC as options for homeowners.

Wi-Fi Deadbolt, As Well as Schlage Home App Update on the Way as Well

The Schlage Arrive Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt is designed to complement any exterior door with its blend of simplicity, durability and smart security. As Schlage’s first push-button keypad deadbolt equipped with built-in WiFi, the Arrive Smart WiFi Deadbolt offers homeowners easy code entry, and seamlessly integration with existing smart home technologies.

The company says the Wi-Fi deadbolt connects directly to the home Wi-Fi network without the need for additional accessories, allowing homeowners to manage access remotely through the latest update to the Schlage Home app. Within the app, users can manage up to 250 access codes for keyless entry, and homeowners using the app can track lock history and receive customized push notifications.

Accompanying these new locks is an updated Schlage Home app that will release early 2025. Redesigned to streamline access management into a single, user-friendly interface, the updated app will be available for free for both iOS and Android devices, and it complements the company’s smart lock products, including the new Schlage Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt and Schlage Arrive Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt.

Summarizing its new products, the smart home security company adds the Smart Deadbolt and Schlage Arrive Smart WiFi Deadbolt, as well as the Schlage Encode smart lock family brings at-a-glance, peace-of-mind for the whole home.
