Snap One is releasing a new line of Luma 4K Hybrid cameras designed to combine the security brand’s existing night vision technologies with its AI-driven deterrence features to support intelligent alarms and notifications in both high-end residential and commercial settings.
According to the Charlotte, N.C.-based company that is now a part of ADI, the new line of cameras come in a series of eight different models including both a fixed or motorized varifocal lens and in turret- or bullet-style housings. They feature Luma’s existing IR night vision and Color-at-Night capabilities, along with the company’s AI-enhanced Active Deterrence.
The company boasts the flexibility of the new Luma Hybrid AI cameras, allowing integrators to select either IR night vision or Color-at-Night modes for better control over where the camera should be installed. With the company’s remote management tool OvrC, integrators can adjust the mode for the end user.
The Active Deterrence feature combines built-in LED lights, an audible alarm, or a preset voice deterrence to help deter criminals, along with AI-enabled analytics that can detect a person, vehicle, and non-vehicle to enhance the accuracy and reliability of notifications for users using the Luma View app.
In a statement, Forest Liu, senior director of surveillance products at Snap One, said security innovations, especially in surveillance, are a top request of customers in both residential and commercial markets.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
“As a combined business, Snap One and ADI are committed to investing in the products and solutions our customers need to create safe and reliable systems,” Liu said. “The unique features embodied by the Hybrid 4K cameras broaden ADI and Snap One’s security offerings and help customers deliver tailored security solutions across their entire customer base.”
The recently concluded CES 2025, in particular, was flooded with such innovations, with fellow security players like Philips introducing biometric recognition software to its smart lock line, while security cloud provider Arlo announced the incorporation of AI-based Wi-Fi presence detection into its core product offerings.
CE Pro’s own 2025 trend report, which is available to read now, identified AI security advancements as being one of the top trends of the new year, with features like machine vision and intelligent detection, like those being used in the new Luma Hybrid models, as being particularly potent innovations within the space.
According to Snap One, the new cameras will be available to customers in the U.S., Canada, LATAM, EMEA, and APAC regions. Additional features include NDAA compliance, integration with OvrC remote monitoring platform and control systems like Control4.
