Somfy: New Sonesse 40 PoE Motor Is Fast, Quiet & Easy to Integrate

Somfy’s latest innovation in the PoE (Power over Ethernet) range, the Sonesse 40 PoE motor offers systems integrators numerous beneficial functionalities.

The Sonesse 40 PoE motor delivers flexible installation through networked Ethernet cabling, multiple torque options for large-format applications, and effortless integration with third-party control companies, according to the motorized shades specialist.

By delivering power and data signals to the motor on a single Cat-5e/Cat-6 Ethernet cable, PoE reduces the amount of time and cabling required on an installation.

This results in a quicker, easier, less labor-intensive installation, Somfy explains.

Since no dedicated electrical wiring or electrical outlet is needed, custom integrators can handle the installation without a licensed electrician and without being constrained by the proximity of electrical outlets, Somfy adds.

Somfy Sonesse 40 PoE Motor Builds In Friendly Features

Available in three sizes – 2, 4, and 6Nm, Somfy’s new Sonesse 40 motors are remarkably quiet and strong, the company says.

These motors feature a compact and discreet design, providing a smaller light gap as well as interchangeable motor head colors, available in white, black, and gray.

Safety and control attributes are built into the motors, including adjustable speed, soft start and stop, LED feedback on the motor, and position feedback.

Sonesse 40 PoE motor-driven shades can be easily integrated into a complete smart home network, the company states.

Additional PoE motor-driven products and devices can be easily be added to the network, giving custom integrators a simple and economic expansion path, Somfy says.

The Sonesse 40 PoE integrates directly with leading third-party control companies’ systems including Control4, Crestron, Nice, RTI, and URC utilizing the Somfy Synergy API, with no gateway required, as the company notes.
