Ahead of the 2025 International Builder’s Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, Nevada, SPAN has announced two new models of smart electrical panels that it will be debuting at the show: the SPAN Panel MAIN 40+MID and SPAN Panel MLO 48.
In the realm of smart home energy systems, SPAN takes a unique approach compared to its contemporaries within space, turning the electrical panel into the main brains of a home’s power network.
As per Arch Rao, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of SPAN, “SPAN is revolutionizing the 100 year old electric panel, and the expansion of our smart panel family is a critical next step in this journey. We’re proud to help builders cut costs, deliver an unparalleled customer experience, and set modern standards for new-build homes.”
Introduced back in 2020, the original SPAN smart panel offered minute control for circuits from the breaker itself, as well as through a connected mobile app, with the original focus of the product being to pair it with battery storage and backup systems.
SPAN says these newer models were designed specifically to address pain points for builders and give them a leg up over competitors, with many of the newer features being tuned towards the needs of modern home construction while holding onto much of what made the original work in the first place.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
The new panels also come with SPAN PowerUp software preinstalled, which intelligently balances home energy usage and acts as a sort of “future-proofing” for the home’s electrical grid.
According to SPAN, even on standard 200A service, homeowners can upgrade their homes over time and install popular electric appliances like EV chargers and heat pumps without additional, costly electrical work.
PulteGroup, a top 3 builder in the U.S. and SPAN partner, sees the expansion of SPAN’s smart panel family as an ideal solution for new home builders.
“At PulteGroup, we are committed to building high-quality homes that are compatible with modern life – that means smart, flexible electrical systems,” said Kirk Hammersmith, National Director of Procurement at Pulte.
“Our program with SPAN has been very successful and we’re pleased with the operational efficiency SPAN electric panels have enabled and the strong homebuyer feedback we have received.”
The new SPAN Panels will be on display at SPAN’s electrified home exhibit (West Hall #W3411) at the NAHB International Builder’s Show in Las Vegas, February 25-27. The products are currently available for purchase by select buyers, with delivery beginning in April 2025.
