Star Wars Home Theater Transports Movie Viewers to a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Creating a custom Star Warsthemed home theater posed unique challenges for Innovative Sight & Sound, especially with the “room within a room” design. The design required constructing a 15 x 23 x 9-foot room within the existing home structure.

“This approach was essential for superior sound isolation, preventing audio from leaking in or out. Building this isolated space involved meticulous planning and precise execution, ensuring the theater’s acoustics were uncompromised,” explains Innovative Sight & Sound’s Forrest Walker.

The team ended up using specialized insulation and acoustic panels to achieve the desired affect. Coincidentally, the added push to design the interior of the home theater around a Star Wars starship, presented an opportunity for the team to use the decoupled walls to further dampen any sound that might escape from the system.

The impressive audio system incorporates Wisdom Audio speakers, including three Insight L8i LCR, eight Insight P4i (6 sides, 2 rear), four Insight P2i Atmos ceiling speakers, and 4 S90i in-wall subwoofers. The system is driven by StormAudio’s ISP.24 Analog MK2 Processor.

A Sony VPL-XW6000ES home theater projector paired with a Stewart Filmscreen Director’s Choice 185-inch screen ensures stunning visuals. Kaleidescape Terra Movie Servers and Strato C Players, Panasonic DP-UB9000 disc player, Apple TV 4K, NVIDIA SHIELD, and Xbox Series X offer diverse home entertainment options for when the family decides they want to watch something other than Star Wars for once.

Ambient Home Theater Lighting Helps Capture the Ambience of Star Wars

Outside of the raw material that went into the system, the team at Innovative Sight & Sound also needed to capture the iconic ambience of Star Wars locations in the home theater design. The firm worked to create plenty of custom interior elements, but what ultimately cinched it for the team was the inclusion of a meticulous lighting system, able to be controlled to match the theming of the myriad settings from Tatooine to Dagobah.

Advanced DMX controllers and RGBW light strips create a futuristic atmosphere that completes the transformation of the family’s home theater into a transport ship from Star Wars.

Control4 and several controls options also make operating the theater a breeze. Octane Continental LHR seating provides comfort and thematic consistency, designed to reflect the high-tech, futuristic feel of the galaxy far, far away.

“Our team’s ability to blend thematic design with technical functionality is unmatched. Custom fabrication and thematic integration skills allowed us to bring the client’s Star Wars vision to life without compromising performance,” Walker comments on the client’s satisfaction with their new home theater.
