The BWS-110 is perhaps Steinway Lyngdorf’s most shallow subwoofer solution yet. Announced at CEDIA Expo 2024, the BWS-110 is an in-wall woofer specifically made for Steinway & Sons speaker installations and marks the company’s sixth woofer model in its portfolio.
Described as precise, punchy, and powerful, by the company, BWS-110 stands for Boundary Woofer Shallow, incorporating one 10-inch bass driver and designed as a high performance in-wall woofer for custom installations that require a most shallow woofer solution yet with the best bass performance.
According to the company, the BWS-110 utilizes a patented high-excursion shallow woofer design, customized for Steinway Lyngdorf and based on an exclusive voice-coil/cone geometry and suspension, which allows the highest excursion from the most space-saving construction.
A four-layer voice coil, an ultra-rigid dual aluminum cone, a very powerful neodymium magnet, and an extremely rigid cast aluminum basket make up the basis of the BWS-110 internals, while on the outside, the woofers feature the brand’s trademark high-gloss piano lacquer. It also comes with a paintable, magnetically held grill to cover the woofer front.
According to Steinway, the rigid and sealed enclosure is ideal for 4-inch cavity walls, while the extended height provides the large inner cabinet volume required for better bass extension. In combination with the 10- inch bass driver, Steinway says the BWS-110 delivers outstanding bass performance, claiming it is the ideal solution for any media room and home cinema with no space for placing subwoofers in the room.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
As with every Steinway & Sons loudspeaker, the BWS-110 is part of the company’s Integrated System Approach, ensuring all parts of the system, from the speaker to the woofers to the powerful digital amplifiers and the stereo or surround processors, work together as one.
Steinway Lyngdorf’s incorporated RoomPerfectTM technology acoustically calibrates the speaker and woofer performance to the room acoustics, while the unique Bass Management achieves the very best sound integration between the chosen Steinway & Sons speakers and the BWS-110 woofers. This ensures the best sound experience for every customer, in any room and any speaker layout.
Steinway Lyngdorf will be presenting at CEDIA Expo 2024 at booth #3119 from September 5 – 7 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Attendees to the show are invited to stop by the booth and see the company’s products in action, though it is currently unknown if the company will have the BSW-110 on display while at the show.
The BSW-110 production will start in October 2024 at Steinway Lyngdorf, Denmark.
