It feels like I just got back from Lightapalooza 2024, but here we are, already in the process of preparing for the next outing. The showrunners have announced the dates and location for Lightapalooza 2025, and it’s set to take place January 20 – 23 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas.
As one of the premier lighting education shows within the custom integration space, Lightapalooza has only continued to grow since its initial inception three years ago. Starting off with a modest attendance of 200+ select integrators for its 2022 debut, Lightapalooza 2024 raked in roughly 1,283 confirmed registrants.
That’s a sextupling (I think that’s the right word) of the initial event and a doubling of 2023’s event with 2025 looking to draw in a substantial number as the event draws in more project roles and expands its content.
Tom Doherty, the brains behind the show, has likened the growth of the event to none other than the upcoming CEDIA Expo, with he having been part of the formation of that show—though, he doesn’t intend on having Lightapalooza become as encompassing as CEDIA Expo.
As of right now, all we know about Lightapalooza 2025 are the dates. Prior attendees will be receiving updates as time goes on according to the website, and CE Pro will also be here to cover those for everyone else interested. First time attendees can also register on the Lightapalooza website to receive updates for 2025 as they arrive.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
Rest assured, however, the showrunners are planning some big surprises if the website is to be believed. Considering last year introduced energy and power into the mix with plenty of exhibitors and education that totaled out to a combined 8,789 hours of education delivered over the course of three days, it’s safe to say big things can be expected from both the showrunners and the prospective exhibitors.
Perhaps we might see a little bit more influence from the resimercial sector as commercial lighting trends continue to take off? Or maybe we might start to see a greater focus placed on design and architectural topics while at the show? A lot can happen between now and January but with the way the industry has been evolving since, I’m excited to see what’s in store for Lightapalooza 2025.
