Lights? Check. Shades? Check. A fully integrated smart automation and control system to tie it all together? Absolutely. In developing a serene primary suite for a home out in Huntsville, Alabama, Mozaic Smart Technology Design went with a very sophisticated solution involving black-out shades to turn the room’s calm, cream-colored decor into the ultimate sensory retreat for the homeowner.
It’s this commitment to blending in with the room design that helped the project stand out for the client, noted Michael Johnson of Mozaic.
“While the client was not challenging in a traditional sense—they were actually a joy to work with—they were intricately involved in every design detail,” he said.
“This involvement necessitated careful consideration of the color selection for the shades, ensuring that the chosen neutral palette perfectly complemented the room without veering too warm or too cool.”
During the project, the primary challenge was the precise placement of wiring for hardwired shades, especially given the thin window transoms. This required meticulous attention to detail to ensure that the installation achieved the desired aesthetic outcome.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
The Lutron Shades blend into the room’s neutral color palette, blending effortlessly with the design. Synchronized with Josh.ai, these shades allow for precise scene settings and automated adjustments during sunrise and sunset, offering a seamless balance of natural and artificial light.
“This integration [with Josh.ai and Lutron] allows for both scene control and automated adjustments during sunrise and sunset hours, providing effortless management of natural light,” Johnson explained.
“By combining Lutron Shades with Josh AI control, [we] have created a serene master suite that is both technologically advanced and aesthetically refined.”
The shades complement the room’s lighting control system, giving the client precise control over both natural and artificial light. Whether it’s via touch control or voice command, the homeowner has complete control over the ambiance and can fine tune the space to suit any mood or time of day.
“This project exemplifies Mozaic‘s ability to elevate living spaces into luxurious and tranquil havens,” finished Johnson. “This thoughtful integration not only enhances the suite’s visual appeal but also creates a soothing atmosphere tailored to the client’s preferences.”
