Despite the company’s recent struggles, the popular consumer audio brand Sonos has always been a prized integration for whole-house controls compatibility. The latest control company to deliver seamless support with Sonos is URC, which has enhanced its initial, 6-year-old Total Control integration.
Now clients in the smart home/residential and light commercial/resimercial markets can use wireless multiroom audio functionality and automation by integrating Sonos with URC’s Total Control platform, the companies announced.
Sonos’ portfolio – already employed by the majority of CE Pro 100 dealers – includes a variety of speakers, including the Sonos One, Beam, Move, Arc, and Era 100; plus, home theater speakers and components, including the Sub Mini.
Thanks to the new compatibility with Total Control, Sonos provides unified user control and combines support with other smart home and commercial environment technologies like lighting, shades, climate, security, entertainment, and much more, URC notes.
URC and Sonos created an integration in 2018, but the control company has developed significantly more functionality of the audio products within the URC Total Control system.
Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.
Among those, the support provides enhanced search and allows end-users to save favorites and play preferred tracks faster.
URC’s Total Control includes voice control so users can merely ask for their favorite tracks, the company adds, and overall streamlines programming for URC-certified dealers.
With Total Control, professional integrators can combine wireless audio and customized scenes where multiple interior activities occur, like lighting, climate, shades, and more.
“This next-generation integration with impeccably designed Sonos portfolio, creates unique opportunities for our dealers, with easy programming, and luxury consumers, with upscale audio design and superior technology,” states Lars Granoe, URC’s VP of Product Development.
It’s one more in a list of myriad third-party solutions that add to the robust controls of URC’s user interfaces, like touchscreens, remotes and in-wall keypads. (Courtesy of URC)
